Many people who work full-time in our neighbourhood and beyond are finding it increasingly difficult to shop at the St. Lawrence Market because of the Market's very early closing hours during the week . The Market closes at 5 p.m. - Monday to Friday, just as many people are ending their work day.
A few years ago hours were extended, but since the reopening post-COVID the St. Lawrence Market has reverted to previous operating hours. You now have an opportunity to share your preferences and opinions with respect to the St. Lawrence Market and its hours of service Public survey about St. Lawrence Market's hours of operation now open This public survey is being conducted to verify how expanded hours of operation for the Market could best serve the public's needs. COVID-19 has impacted many aspects of our daily lives. This survey aims to understand the impact that COVID-19 has had on food shopping patterns, Market visitation and the level of demand for additional hours to access the Market. The public is encouraged to provide their input and complete the 10-minute St. Lawrence Market Hours of Operation survey. The survey is available at www.surveymonkey.com/r/stlawrencemarkethours. The survey will be live until Monday, April 18. Survey results will be reviewed along with other current data and past research conducted to verify what the expanded Market hours of operation could be. Research and consultation on the hours of operation has been done and included analysis of local shopping data, comparative analysis of local and international markets, public consultation, and consultation with Market merchants and stakeholders. The South Market currently operates five days a week, Tuesdays through Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. It's closed on Sundays and Mondays. I think the market should be open Sunday as that’s when most people like to stock up for the week and meal prep etc.

It makes sense that the St.Lawrence Market really should expand its operating hours, which would include opening on Sundays. These changes would correspond to changing shopping trends - and also adapt to the different cultures in Toronto.

Sundays are my grocery day and I would love to shop the market for my fresh produce. I also work until 5pm so I find it difficult to shop with the current hours. I would love to be able to shop local and hope the hours can extend.
