TONIGHT: SLNA Community Meeting - Nov. 24 - 7 p.m.

The next SLNA Meeting will take place TONIGHT, November 24th at 7 p.m. on Zoom (see connection details below). The agenda follows:

  • SLNA Budget Motion (see Delegate note below)
  • Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam
  • St. Lawrence Market and Precinct updates - Daniel Picheca
  • Market Lane Park - draft design concepts
  • BIA - winter events and programs
  • 45 The Esplanade - neighbours' perspectives

**Attention All SLNA Delegates**

A motion will be introduced at the upcoming November 24 Community meeting to obtain Delegate approval of the SLNA Budget for 2022.

Here is the budget, which received Board approval on November 10. Please review prior to the meeting, if you can.

Again in 2021, due to continuing Covid-19 restrictions, the Association did not spend all of the budgeted funds, resulting in an operating surplus.

The Budget for 2022 is very similar, and is based on the expectation that the restrictions on activities will not be as severe. You'll also recall that next year is SLNA's 40th Anniversary, so additional funds have been budgeted for one or more celebratory events.

Note that no fee increases are planned for 2022, and the Budget reflects that. The Board has discussed fee increases beyond 2022, and will be engaging Delegates in that conversation in the new year.

If you are unable to attend the November meeting (or even if you are) and you wish to record your approval/objection of the budget in advance, please communicate this in an email to [email protected] .

Thanks very much for your participation,

Stewart Linton
SLNA President

Celebrate The Esplanade - Mill St. Connection
Join Toronto Centre Cyclists (TCC) on Sunday, November 14, at noon as they celebrate The Esplanade & Mill Street Connection.

The meet up for this event will be at the southwest corner of Berkeley and The Esplanade where TCC members will talk more about this signicant street project and encourage all to take a spin from Sherbourne and The Esplanade to Corktown Common via the new bike lane.
A new bi-directional protected bike lane has just been installed to connect The Esplanade and Mill Street, two important streets in the east part of downtown Toronto. They connect people to iconic destinations like the St. Lawrence Market and Distillery District, as well as parks such as Corktown Common and David Crombie Park.
The Esplanade & Mill Street Connection aims to:
  1. Improve safety for everyone
  2. Make walking, cycling and taking transit more attractive
  3. Maintain access to local and citywide destinations
This is just phase one of the greater project to connect Yonge Street to Bayview via these neighbourhoods by 2023.

St. Lawrence Market Returns to Regular Hours
Picture

The St. Lawrence Market's South Market building will resume its regular hours of operation effective

The Farmers Market will continue to be open every Saturday from 5am to 3pm and the Sunday Antique Market will be open every Sunday from 7am to 4pm.
