​Representation on other Associations, Agencies and Community Groups

The Board of Directors may appoint Delegates or others (and may revoke any such appointments) to represent the SLNA and attend meetings of other associations and community groups with the expectation of reporting back to the SLNA Board to share with Delegates.
St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA
Director Responsible: ​Stewart Linton

​Description of responsibilities and objectives: 
A Business Improvement Area (BIA) is an association of commercial property owners and tenants within a defined area who work in partnership with the City to create thriving, competitive, and safe business areas that attract shoppers, diners, tourists, and new businesses. The BIA's boundaries are now almost the same as those of the SLNA and we cooperate on many projects, in particular streetscape improvements.

BIA Parks Committee

​Description of responsibilities and objectives: 
 This committee is advising on the 8-80 Project that will create plans to improve various parks, such as St. James Park. The Committee also discusses other City parks in the SLNA area and had great success with the re-development of the new Berczy Park.




BIA Streetscape Committee

​Description of responsibilities and objectives: This committee discusses general streetscape matters in our area, and one or both of these representatives normally also serve on any City or ad-hoc construction liaison committees as necessary.
St. Lawrence Market Precinct Advisory Committee

​Description of responsibilities and objectives: The St. Lawrence Market Precinct Advisory Committee (SLMPAC) was established by the City of Toronto in 2012 comprised of a representative elected from citizens, local groups, tenants of the Market and from the City of Toronto.

Seniors Activities Committee

Description of responsibilities and objectives: The mandate of this committee is to gather and communicate the concerns and perspectives of residents in discussions around planning events in the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood.

St. Lawrence Community Recreation Centre (CRC)
Advisory Council

Description of responsibilities and objectives: The St. Lawrence Community Recreation Centre is the neighbourhood’s sole public recreation centre. The SLNA was central to getting it built and has maintained close relations with the Centre's staff and Advisory Council ever since. In particular, the SLNA supports a variety of activities, such as their basketball courts and soccer league. The Advisory Council, on which SLNA delegates sit, assists the CRC’s staff with programming decisions, fund-raising and offers general community input into the CRC’s operations.
West Don Lands Committee

Description of responsibilities and objectives:​ The West Don Lands Committee is a community-driven coalition of resident, business, environmental, heritage and other groups. It has worked since 1997 to ensure timely development of the West Don Lands in a manner that is beneficial to the local and larger community. The Committee will continue work to build broad consensus around its principles for development and be an active and informed participant in public and stakeholder consultations on waterfront development. The Committee will continue to promote development that is sustainable, pedestrian friendly, inclusive of all demographic and income groups, of high architectural and urban design standards and well-provided with schools and other community services. 
Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC-51 Division)

Description of responsibilities and objectives: A CPLC exists in each Police Division and provides a forum for citizen group/police service dialogue. The SLNA is within 51 Division; they are based at Front and Parliament.

Quayside Stakeholder Advisory Committee

Description of responsibilities and objectives: 
The Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) is a non-political advisory committee which provides a forum for feedback, guidance and advice to the Project Team at key points during planning, design, and public consultation processes. The SAC will:
  • Communicate the perspectives of members’ organizations and constituencies at SAC meetings, and communicate SAC discussions back to their organizations and constituencies; 
  • Act as a sounding board for the Project Team to share and discuss ideas and findings; 
  • Provide input and guidance on proposed study, planning, design and programming approaches, concepts and informational materials; 
  • Provide feedback on any other relevant matters as requested.
