2024 BUtt blitz
April 20, 2024 Butt Blitz
Thanks to approximately 30 volunteers from SLNA-WRG, Friends of Berczy Park and the neighbourhood, 13,343 butts were collected during the Butt Blitz Clean Up.
As part of A Greener Future’ Butt Blitz Month and Toronto’s annual spring clean up, from 10 am – 1 pm our community met at The Toronto Sculpture Garden (114 King Street. East) and Berczy Park (35 Wellington St. E.). with a pair of gloves, an up-cycled container to put the butts in and some good old fashioned enthusiasm to kick some butt!

- Over 1000 Donors/visitors
- 32 skids (totalling 9,918 lbs) Donated to Salvation Army -
- 3.5 skids (703 kg) of electronic e-waste to RCT (including printers, laptops/desktops, monitors cameras, peripherals to be refurbished for reuse)
- Repair Café Toronto volunteers worked on 140 items for 123 people resulting in “a lot of satisfied people in a big tent”
- CultureLink Bike Hub completed small repairs on 12 bikes

2023 SEPTEMBER REMARKET
What was new at the 8th REmarket event?We expanded our recycling program to include more items! Only with the support of additional organizations, a record number of volunteers and also the Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA).
2023 JUNE REMARKET
What was new at the 7th REmarket event? We expanded our recycling program, with the support of additional organizations and volunteers, including Toronto's Green Neighbours Network (GNN). With our largest volunteer team yet, we were able to set new records regarding our positive impact on the environment and our local communities.
2023 January REMARKET
January 25 & 26 REmarket
What was new at the 6th REmarket event? We collected more difficult-to-recycle items than ever before! In addition to collecting used office supplies such as writing utensils and ink/toner cartridges, we also collected empty prescription pill bottles, empty cosmetic containers, dental waste, disposable razors, and batteries.
On Day 1 we hosted our Free Market and the ReMarket inside the St. Lawrence Market tent, receiving more than 170 visitors who braved the snowy weather.
Over the 2 days the ReMarket collected approximately 400 donations comprising:
On Day 2 Repair Café joined the ReMarket with 21 fixers to help the community fix 100 items, such as their clothes, jewelry, small home appliances and 10 bicycles.

September 21 & 22 REmarket, 2022
Over two days, we collected approximately 300 donations comprising:
- 28 pallets of clothes, books, toys, and other items to The Salvation Army
- 6 pallets of electronics to Renewed Computer Technology
- 2 Boxes of used ink, pens, markers, and batteries to Staples
- 1 Box of eyeglasses to Optic Zone
Repair Café Toronto joined us on Day 2. Seventeen on-site volunteer fixers repaired 41 items, including garments, jewellery, and small appliances.
The FreeMarket, hosted on Day 1, invited the community to bring and share their unwanted goods and/or freely find something to take away.
