Jamii Photography Exhibit Unveiling - Dec. 12 Wisdom Ripples"
When: December 12, 2021. 12 PM Where: David Crombie Park (Corner of Sherbourne and Esplanade) What: Exhibition unveiling with local community members This Sunday, December 12, 12 p.m. at the corner of The Esplanade & Sherbourne, local arts organization Jamii will unveil an exhibition of contemporary photography entitled “WIsdoM ripples". “WIsdoM ripples” is curated by nine young women from the Esplanade community as part of LAINI, a Jamii’s initiative that supports young women as they become creative leaders of tomorrow. "WIsdoM ripples" features the work of three Toronto-based photographers: Roya DelSol, Brianna Roye and Zahra Siddiqui. Over the course of eight workshops, the LAINI participants focused on selecting photos based on a curatorial vision they developed with guidance from artist Gillian Mapp and Isorine Marc. Through the exchange of ideas, perspectives and opinions, participants explored the “why” and "how" to present this exhibit to their community. Read more about the project, including the curators’ artistic statement here: https://www.jamii.ca/wisdomripples All are invited to attend the exhibit unveiling and meet both the young women involved with the LAINI initiative and the featured photographers! Jamii wishes to thank the RBC Foundation, Ontario Arts Council, Rama Gaming House and Ministry of Ontario's Reconnect Festival & Event Program for their support of this project.
