Getting There: 1000 Love Letters

St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association 40th Anniversary Celebration:
February 14, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.  - St. Lawrence Hall, 157 King St. E., 3rd Floor, Grand Ballroom

Last weekend hundreds of residents and visitors to the St. Lawrence wrote wonderful love letters to the neighbourhood at the SLNA booth in the St. Lawrence Market. We want to thank all those who took the time to share their appreciation for the people, the vendors, the heritage buildings and the St. Lawrence neighourhood as a whole.

There will be another opportunity to write letters to the St. Lawrence at the Jamii Letter Writing Workshop on February 11th at the Jamii Hub on The Esplanade (see story below) and at our upcoming official 40th Anniversary celebration at St. Lawrence Hall on February 14th from 10 am to 1 p.m.

History:

The St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association was incorporated on February 14, 1983 so on February 14th we will celebrate 40 YEARS of residents volunteering to serve and advocate on behalf of their neighbours for the benefit of this communitiy and the historic heart of Toronto.

Our wonderful local schools will be key participants in the celebrations planned for February 14th - thank you St. Michael's Catholic Elementary School, Market Lane Public School and D.A.S. for your support and involvment.

Win Prizes -  SLNA 40th Anniversary Contest

On February 14th take a picture with any of the SLNA's large, outdoor love letter signs and include the hashtag #lovelettering #slna40 and you could win a $100 gift certificate. The contest BEGINS on February 14th and will run for 6 weeks. A $100 gift certficate for certain local vendors will be given away everyweek during this period.


Note: The Love Lettering Project was created in 2004 by artist Lindsay Zier-Vogel and the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association is pleased to be partnering with this artist for the Love Lettering celebration in the St. Lawrence.  

Join the Jamii Letter Writing Workshop

The St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association is organizing "1,000 Love Letters to The St Lawrence Neighbourhood" project in celebration of the 40th anniversary on February 14th!

Jamii is partnering with the St Lawrence Neighbourhood Association and organizing a workshop for letter writing! Come join the creative writing workshop, led by Anne-Marie Woods, aka Amani, to complete your love letter in the most poetic way!
