What is it?
The SLNA-WRG is partnering with locations in the neighbourhood with drop off containers for the recycling of certain items. Where is it? For our first project, we are in a pilot with the St. Lawrence Community Recreation Centre (at 230 The Esplanade). Their hours of operations are: Mon – Fri (6:15 am – 9 pm); Sat & Sun (8:45 am – 8 pm). What are we collecting? Oral care, cosmetic items and single use masks - Read our detailed list below. |
1. Oral Care Waste* include
•Toothpaste tubes and caps (empty) •Toothbrushes and toothbrush heads (all types) •Plastic toothbrush covers •Dental floss containers (can contain floss) •Floss threaders and flosser picks •Soft-Picks and Stim-U-Dents •Sulca brushes and Proxabrushes •Gum stimulators and tongue scrapers •All outer packaging for these items, including boxes with metallic |
2. Empty Cosmetic Containers* include:
•Plastic bottles and jars smaller than 60 ml •Ceramic and porcelain jars •Coloured glass bottles and jars •Compacts and palettes •Plastic and aluminum squeezable tubes (including toothpaste) •Mascara tubes and wands •Lipstick and lip gloss tubes and applicators •Caps and closures •Pumps and dispensers •Droppers and applicators •Makeup pencils, sticks and caps 3. Single Use Masks** include: •All brands and styles of commercially produced single-use face masks |
*Please empty, rinse, and dry these items as well as you can
